Best Binocular For Hunting is an independent publication about hunting optics. This page explains, in plain language, what the site does with information about visitors. If anything here is unclear, email [email protected].

What we do not collect

There are no user accounts, comments, newsletter sign-ups or contact forms on this site. We do not ask for your name, email address or payment details, and we do not sell personal information.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics, added through Google’s Site Kit plugin, to see which pages are read and which tools are used so we can improve the site. Google Analytics collects usage data such as the pages you view, your approximate location, your device and browser type and how you interact with a page, and it uses cookies or similar identifiers to do so. The site also sends a small number of interaction events, such as clicks on Amazon links, clicks on calls to action and completed tool runs (for example a chosen configuration such as 10×42). These events do not contain your name or contact details. Google’s handling of this data is described in Google’s own privacy policy.

Fonts

Pages load the Inter and Source Serif 4 typefaces from Google Fonts. Your browser therefore requests font files from Google’s servers, which receive your IP address and basic browser details.

Tools and browser storage

Several tools keep your last inputs and results, and the Scouting Tracker keeps the entries you add, in your browser’s local storage. That data stays on your device and is not sent to us. Clearing this site’s data in your browser removes it, and the tracker can be exported as a file. Some tools (such as the planners and the visualizer) send the values you enter to our server so it can calculate a result; the server returns the answer and does not save those values in the site’s database.

Server logs

Like most websites, the server that hosts this site may keep standard access logs (IP address, requested page, time and browser) under its own policies, for security and troubleshooting.

Amazon and other third-party links

Many product links go to Amazon through our Amazon Associates affiliate tag. Once you click through you are on Amazon’s site, which has its own cookies and privacy notice. We do not receive your name, account or payment details from Amazon. The Affiliate Disclosure explains how the site earns from qualifying purchases.

Email

If you email us, we receive your address and message and use them only to reply or to correct the site.

Your choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, use Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or clear this site’s stored data at any time. The site works without them, although saved tool entries will be lost.
